Marmirolo, was transferred to the province of Mantua in 1055 and was an ancient possession of the Canossa family owner of many lands and buildings. At that time the town had three villages: the Borgo dei Ronchi, Borgo Castello and Borgo delle Lame. In the sixteenth century was built for the duke Vincenzo I Gonzaga the famous building Bosco della Fontana, this building was designed by two architects of the Cremonese, the brothers Giuseppe and Francesco Dattaro.
In Marmirolo remains to be seen the tower, which is located in the town square, where there were bells coming from a tower was destroyed in 1700 and then were melted down to make weapons.
