Pastrengo is on the hills between Lake Garda and the Adige river,
a small municipality located in the hinterland of Lazise, also the origin of the Longobard name mentions fields and pastures of the landscape and was born as a agricultural and pastorizio center. In the history Pastrengo is remembered for the famous “Carica dei Carabinieri” (Carabinieri attack) in 1848 against the Austrians. In the area you can visit some well preserved Austrian fort, the optical telegraph, churches, palaces and medieval towns of Brendola and Castagnaro. In Pastrengo there is also the “Natura Viva” natural park zoo safari.

The municipality of Pastrengo is a small village on the shoulders of Lazise, nestled in the hills of glacial origin, between Lake Garda and the Adige river which is in part a natural border with Pescantina. Its territory is dominated by olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees that cover the hills, alternating with cypress trees and the presence of some medieval forts and mansions around the country. Its mild climate has always favored agriculture and livestock, in particular viticulture being part of the production area of Bardolino Doc. Also important is the processing of marble, iron and paper.
HISTORY OF PASTRENGO
Pastrengo seems to derive its name from the Lombard word ” engo ” which meant grazing , given that the Lombards were present in the area since 568, but was inhabited well before due to the presence of the remains of amphora and other tools of prehistoric ; after the thousand years will take care of these territories the Abbey of San Zeno in Verona that held the control for about eight hundred years , although during the fifteenth century it became part of the territory of the Republic of Venice, quiet years until the time of Napoleon with clashes between the French , Austrian and Piedmontese since the end of ‘700 and culminated with the three Wars of Independence , which commemorates the first Pastrengo with the famous Carica dei Carabinieri (Carabinieri attack) at the turn of April 30, 1848 conducted by three squadrons of police controlled by Major Alexander Negri Sanfront . Here the Austrians built four strong and an optical telegraph on the will of the commander Radetsky between 1859 and 1861 , as the territory is important to control
access to the Val d’Adige and remained active until 1901 . Since 1866 the Veneto region was liberated and annexed to Italy , hence the village followed the fortunes of the region Veneto and the Italian State.
