TERRITORY OF MEDOLE
HISTORY OF MEDOLE
It seems that as early as the first century there was the existence of a town of culture and the Latin language, the nucleus seems to be built where today stands the Romanesque church that was built in the tenth century, it seems on the foundations of a Roman temple . In the fifteenth century a significant immigration occurred in the municipality of Medole which increased a lot the population but scarce food supplies created a separation with the new arrivals and so the population was divided into “uomini di comune” (town men) and “uomini di macina” (men of grinder), they were the poorest part of the population and considered foreigners until their offspring did not reach the 150 years since the establishment of the ancestor in the town of Medole.
