Gambaredolo Court
Gambaredolo court is located in the homonymous village to the east of the town, on the road to the town of Goito
Gambaredolo Court it is a complex of buildings arranged at open court, with four small towers at the corners; to access the courtyard you pass a bridge with a marble balustrade with a gate, once you enter on the left is the main house. The complex was built in the early decades of the sixteenth century at the behest of the Marquis Aloisio Gonzaga as a holiday residence; in 1549, at the death of Aloisio, the estate passed to Alfonso who moved to Castel Goffredo in 1586. In May 1592 Alfonso was assassinated by assassins sent by his nephew Rodolfo of the family of Castiglione delle Stiviere; the assassins were taken and executed . After his death the court passed to his daughter Caterina who made improvements and had the oratory of San Carlo built on the place where her father died; between 1595 and 1600 Ippolita Maggi, widow of Alfonso, also stayed there.
