Fort Poggio Pol
Fort Poggio Pol (Nugent) was built by Austria between 1859 and 1861 and is located on the hill in the municipality of Pastrengo in an easterly direction with respect to the village.
Fort Poggio Pol, its purpose was to protect the city of Verona where the enemy troops had managed to evade the defenses of Peschiera. He had about sixteen guns of various calibres and in 1866 he was armed with sixteen pieces of artillery. Dedicated to the general Lavant Graf Nugent von Westenrath, Captain General of the King of Naples. This fort has a pentagonal plan had various stations, three of which are protected by a large wall to the gunboat. Its plan is pentagonal and differs from the other highlights of the group for the elegant structure. Quite well preserved, now houses a restaurant inside.
