Monte Luppia rock carvings
In locality Brancolino in Torri del Benaco on Monte Luppia
Monte Luppia rock carvings develop on a large area between Garda and Malcesine and are partly of prehistoric origin; One of the places where there is most is in the village of Brancolino in the municipality of Torri del Benaco. The incarnations were discovered in 1964 by Pasotti and then studied by Professor Fabio Gaggia, but they are still unknown, and they are deeply rooted in the museum room of the Castle of Torri. They have been made with the technique of hammering, the most interesting engraving groups are those of the “Stone of the Griselle”, of the “Stone of Knights” and those of the “Stone Great”: Griglia Stone is named after the nautical term with which Were called the rope ladders of the nineteenth-century boats, of which there is a representation on this stone; In another area of the same stone there are engraved forms of men with raised arms and prehistoric weapons. The Knight’s Stone is so called by the presence of twelve armed riders riding south, they are difficult to date. The Great Rock features engravings of various historical periods, most of the prehistoric times, representing human figures and animals.
