Church S.Maria Assunta
Church S.Maria Assunta, symbol of the political-religious power of prince bishop Paride Lodron
Church S.Maria Assunta, originally in the Gothic-Roman style, after several changes it became a strong example of Baroque art in the first decade of the seventeenth century. The building, designed by the Comasco Santino Solari, has a single nave where, on the northern side, a chapel of S.Ruperto opens up, a jewel of art wanted by Paride Lodron as a funeral monument for the parents in 1629. Thanks to its frescoes, his paintings and interior decorations, is considered one of the most remarkable baroque monuments in Trentino; the paintings of the chapel are the work of the Florentine Arsenio Mascagni with the technique of oil on copper.
