Villa Maffei-Sigurtà
One of the most important villas in the province of Verona which was the summer house of the Maffei counts.
Villa Maffei-Sigurtà It was designed by the architect Vincenzo Pellesina (1637-1700), a disciple of Palladio, and built between 1690 and 1693. The style adopted prefers the elements of pure neoclassicism compared to those of the late Baroque period. This Venetian villa was the summer residence of the Lords of Valeggio and Monzambano, the Counts Maffei until 1836, when Anna Maffei, marrying Count Filippo Nuvoloni, brought her as dowry and remained of the Nuvoloni until 1929, when it was sold to Maria Paulon, wife of the local doctor Cesare Sangiovanni. In 1941 the property was purchased by the Milanese pharmaceutical industrialist Count Giuseppe Carlo Sigurtà. The south facade includes a large loggia decorated with frescoes and capital columns, above which a plaque commemorates the ancient investiture of the Maffei.
