Church of Disciplina
Church of Disciplina
in the center of Villafranca on the main street
Church of Disciplina (or della Visitazione) of Villafranca dates back to the end of the fifteenth century, a gift from Counts Maffei, affiliated to the Confraternity of Discipline, beside their palace; between the middle of the seventeenth century and the second half of the eighteenth century the brotherhood enlarged and modified it with the current Baroque shapes, while maintaining the 15th century structure of the building. The church has a Baroque facade and a bas-relief located above the entrance. Inside there is a precious “Mortorio” recently restored dating back to the 15th century with nine statues of the sixteenth century.
