Church of San Salvar
Church of San Salvar it is located in the open countryside west of the town of Bussolengo and is the oldest in the country, it seems to be that mentioned by Pope Eugene III in 1145.
Church of San Salvar it does not have a certain date of origin, but from the analysis of some parts of it it seems to be of the VIII-IX century; a sepulchral stele and the base of the baptismal font from the Roman period suggest that the church had been built on a previous building of Roman worship; the building was built with river stones and stones from other buildings, with several references to the Lombard construction technique of the churches in the area of Baldo, Adige and Garda. In 1509 the building was raised and entirely frescoed, but only some parts remain with the representation of some prophets. At the end of the eighteenth century the church was occupied by French troops who used it as a dormitory. Between 1836 and 1838 the structure of the church was changed, the entrance was moved to the east by breaking down the old apse and rebuilding it more elongated to the west.
