Church of Santo Stefano Martyr was started in 1721 on a project by the architect Antonio Spazzi, but its construction lasted more than thirty years, various artists from the Lombardy-Veneto area worked there and a substantial financial commitment for the municipality, citizens and ecclesiastics. The result was of high artistic value, with valuable paintings and sculptures; some important works are due to Antonio Calegari, while the tempera on the vaults of the church are by Giuliano Volpi.
