Church San Damaso
The church San Damaso is located just out of the center of Medole towards Guidizzolo along a country lane in a small hamlet of houses and is surrounded by a low wall that surrounds the property.
The church San Damaso in Medole speaking in a document dated 1072, listed among the assets attributable to the Monastery of St. Prosper of Reggio, in the various documents that are followed when the Chapel is mentioned, is also taken home and garden outbuildings, understanding it almost as a hermitage, which was then followed by other buildings, thus creating a small hamlet.
The origin of the church of San Damaso thus seems to be very old, as potentially corroborated by the presence of some exhibits Romanesque interior, but more realistically, Zanucchi believes that it has been completely rebuilt because of the raids of Henry IV in the first decade of the fifteenth century and during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries took its present shape with the elements liberty early ‘900.
