Just a short distance from the center of Torri del Benaco
Church San Faustino is located a short distance from the lake and the center of Torri, where there was the hermitage of Saints Faustino and Giovita; It was built in the 15th century, with frescoes dating back to the fifteenth century, some depicting San Rocco, San Sebastiano, a Madonna with Child and an altarpiece by Francesco Marai of 1711 depicting the Madonna with Saints Faustino and Giovita. Here is the tomb of the Hermit Pietro Malerba, who died in 1469; Above it is written: “Malerba fuit, sed re difundit odores, ut flos candidior, quem paradisius habet. MCCCCLXIIII, terter decembris”, it is said that Malerba was of the order of Gerolimini and had the church by the bishop of Brescia was buried in the cemetery adjacent to the church, but the grass did not burst onto its grave and the nearby plants dried up, then its secret was restored in the present sarcophagus and placed inside the church. Death of Malerba, the church and the monastery became private property until 1855, when it passed to the pastor of Torri don Innocenzo Maria Zuliani, after which in 1888 Francesco Giacometti restored the building and began to celebrate Saints Faustino Every Thursday, February 15th.
