Church San Martino Vescovo
The church of San Martino bishop is perhaps considered one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of Verona.
Church San Martino bishop It is located in the historical center of the town, it is said that it was built on the remains of a pagan temple, but the first mention dates back to 878, the year in which Charlemagne donated two wooden fishponds to San Martino; the church is then also named in a document of 1008 and in 1145 in a papal bull by Eugene III. With the Napoleonic in 1796 the church was used as a warehouse and military hospital and, worn out, was demolished in 1814. In 1815 the Austrians decided to rebuild it, completing it in 1822 with a neoclassical façade facing the square. Inside there are frescoes by the painter Severino Saoncella and there is also a relic of the Blessed Andrea da Peschiera.
