Church San Ulderico
Church San Ulderico
in the medieval hamlet of Castelrotto in San Pietro in Cariano
Church San Ulderico is built before the fifteenth century, since it is named in the acts of the pastoral visit of 1453 by the bishop of Verona Ermolao Barbaro and finds it in poor condition and without a bell tower. After about a century it is in the same condition even during various pastoral visits by bishop Gian Matteo Giberti, although some chapels of the area, but these are poorly kept, depend on it. At the end of the seventeenth century a further visit described it as a single nave, with five altars. It will only be in the early thirties of the nineteenth century that the building will be rebuilt with a bell tower by architect Francesco Caminada from Como in a neoclassical style. Curiosity, is also mentioned by humanist Feliciano about the inscriptions in Vesta and Saturn in the church.
