Curch of S.Rocco
Curch of S.Rocco
at the beginning of Brentonico
Curch of S.Rocco, the first construction seems to date back to the early 16th century, 1502 for Morizzo, according to the pastoral visit of 1549 the building was still incomplete and was given for disposal or completion. After the plague of 1630 it was enlarged and two altars were added, one dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and one to the Madonna Addolorata, which are considered by Giacomo Benedetti. Of the 18th century are probably the frescoes depicting St. Rocco, the Madonna and the Saints, the work of Orlando Fattori of Ala and the construction of the bell tower by Teodoro Benedetti of Castione. St. Rocco’s Church was often used as a military hospital by German and French soldiers.
