Eremo di S.Valentino
On the hill in S. Valentino, behind Gargnano, lies the Hermitage destination of many pilgrimages. Reachable from Sasso in 4 minutes or uphill from Gargnano in a couple of hours, offers a beautiful view overlooking Lake Garda.
This church, in its present structure was built in the mid-seventeenth century as a votive offering, a sign of thanks from some residents escaped the plague in 163.
Its interior walls, which rest directly on the rock, however, date back to the fifteenth century when the site was probably used as a shelter of tools and animals.
Andrea Paladini later received as hermits who lived here and is remembered today as the ROMIT de San Valentì.
