Garden Park Sigurtà
The large park of Villa Maffei, extends over 5 hectares of surface, nestled among the moraine hills, a few kilometers from Lake Garda and wet by the river Mincio.
Garden Park Sigurtà begins its history with the noble Gerolamo Nicolò Contarini who bought the property in 1407, during the Venetian domination, when it was still agricultural with lands cultivated within walls with an area dedicated to the garden near the owners’ house who, in 1417, decided to have it rebuilt in style. The property was purchased by Count Carlo Sigurtà in the forties, which made it with passion a botanical and landscape paradise that today is known as one of the most beautiful parks in the world. The park, open to the public since 1978, preserves inside a small Doric temple, unmissable paths and avenues that offer splendid views of the Mincio and the surrounding hills, among ponds, rose gardens, medicinal plants, aquatic gardens, oaks, boxwoods and azaleas.
