Optical Telegraph
The optical Telegraph of Pastrengo is the work of the Austrians who built it in 1865, this Telegraph Station located on the hill of San Martino
Optical Telegraph in Pastrengo is connected to that of Verona and with the telegraph transmitter on Monte Baldo, which is in turn connected to Malcesine and Borghetto in Val d’Adige; so that all the positions of the Quadrilateral were connected to each other. The building has a hexagonal plan with each side of width mt. 12 and 8.5 meters high, is characterized by four portholes oriented to the receiving stations; different was the method of communication depending on the moment, night or day. By day the “flash color” method was used, morse alphabet using white panels on one side and black on the other on the ground floor; at night the same alphabet was used, but using oil lamps that projected light from the portholes on the upper floor.
Since 2009 it has been transformed into a museum by the El Vissinel association
