Palace Zambelli
Palace Zambelliit was built starting from the eighteenth century and completed in the first half of the nineteenth century with the construction of the corner balcony and the internal gallery.
Palace Zambelli it was owned by one of the most important patrician families of Lonato, it was the seat of the military district of the Piedmontese army during the Battle of San Martino and Solferino of 1859. Bought by auction in 1875, it was the seat of the municipal schools before and della Pretura later, now it is the seat of the municipal library, is located in the part of the historic center opposite the main square from the main road that cuts the town.
It has two facades, one on Via Girelli, the other on Via Zambelli, connected by a corner balcony in wrought iron. There are stone portals on both sides, but the main one is on Via Zambelli, where even the windows have a smooth stone framing. The main portal, the ribbed hallway, the alternating bunk pillars, diamond-tipped and hammered, the opening and height of the arches, are from the end of the eighteenth century as well as the wrought iron balcony and kneeling runs all morning the staircase leading to the first floor. Worthy of note here is the gallery that faces towards noon and is adorned with mirrors-lumiere framed by rich swirls in stucco that are repeated on the overlays with particularly sinuous friezes. On the first overhang on the left the emblem Zambelli: rainbow loaded with three arches and carrying three lilies. On the gallery there are the various rooms: the first to the east has a neoclassical decoration in the ceiling with a central octagonal medal and large shaped panels with small roundels. Then comes a second room with a central medal depicting Apollo with the allegorical figures of the four seasons, certainly by Andrea Celesti. Along the perimeter there is an articulated quadrature characterized by a colonnaded colonnade with a central balcony, enlivened by vases with calyx filled with flowers. The corner area is resolved by an oblique diagonal perspective flight that extends the space a lot. Contemplate the decoration four statues painted in monochrome depicting the four elements of nature. Finally, the third room still has a good fresco decoration in the central medal, with an allegorical scene, by the hand of Andrea Celesti. A rough quadrature, made even heavier by a clumsy restoration, runs along the shoulders of the vault in a strange mixture of elements taken from the most varied cultures such as shoots of flowers and fruit, birds, fake balustrade in silver iron, all wrapped in a shades as strong as cold. At the center of each side, a female allegorical figure representing one of the Continents. Pink columns in squat perspective occupy the angular area.
