Palazzo della Ragione Town Hall Castel Goffredo
The Palazzo della Ragione Town Hall Castel Goffredo originally, in the fourteenth century, was on the right of the civic tower, in the ancient piazza del Ponte dell’Olmo
Palazzo della Ragione or Town Hall Castel Goffredo is in the document of 1337 in which the City is placed under the protection of Luigi Gonzaga, first Captain of the People of Mantua; subsequently, in 1480, it was sold to Ludovico Gonzaga, bishop of Mantua and Marquis of the village, to make it his residence. The current Town Hall was probably built after this sale; the building is made up of an older part towards Piazza Mazzini and a new one built in the early twentieth century. The façade is divided into two parts: the one below the Loggia that follows the place of the ancient “Loggia delle grida” where the Council once gathered, and the upper one with the full wall loggia with four windows and a central opening with balcony.
