Tower of Carpenedolo Castle
The tower of Carpenedolo castle is located on Mount Rocchetta that overlooks the historic town center, it was part of a moated castle that had been built around the year one thousand.
The tower of Carpenedolo castle it is documented as early as 1043 in a trade-in document between the former owner of the Abbey of Serle and the diocese of Brescia with the bishop of Oldarico. In the XIII century it belonged to the Guelph family of the Poncarales, in 1237 the castle, together with the castle of Casaloldo, was attacked and destroyed by the Ghibelline troops of Reggio, remains the tower with some sections of masonry and a part of the moat. In the fourteenth century the tower was rebuilt on the remains of the previous one by order of Bernabò Visconti and again in 1650.
