Major towns of Garda Lake overlooking the lake are Desenzano, Sirmione, Peschiera, Lazise, Garda, Bardolino, Malcesine, Riva and Salò.
Some of these towns of Garda Lake arose in Roman times as a fortification traffic control overlooking the lake and later used by the Lombards. Expanded and reinforced in the Middle Ages by the Scala family, see their economic development and construction with the advent of the Serenissima. Mostly devoted to fishing and trade, the towns of Garda Lake in turn have lived moments of particular economic development, lead in time to be enriched with beautiful churches, buildings, squares, since them look small towns surrounded by several villages and districts, perched on the slopes of the mountains or in the surrounding countryside, to constitute the fractions that lived on agriculture and pastoralism. The urban built-up areas is irregular, dictated by the lack of space, on land often made between the mountains and the lake, the houses were built very close to the shores of Lake Garda, leaning against each other with narrow streets and narrow. Vallagarina
The area includes the municipalities of: Ala – Avio – Besenello – Brentonico – Calliano – Isera – Mori – Nogaredo – Nomi – Pomarolo – Rovereto – Villa Lagarina – Volano, which is a part of the Adige valley, is located north-east of Lake Garda, on the eastern slope of Mount Baldo. The area is particularly known for producing some excellent wines, being part of the wine route of Trentino wines like marzemino, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Muller Thurgau.

EAST GARDA
Mount Baldo and West Garda
The area includes the municipalities of: Brenzone – Caprino Veronese – Costermano –Ferrara di Monte Baldo – Malcesine – Nago Torbole – San Zeno di Montagna – Torri del Benaco dominated by the west slope of Mount Baldo, which descends into the lake of Garda and where it ends in the south. The whole coast is largely thanks to a tourist coastal plain with numerous beaches and the Garda Eastern conveniently connects the towns of Garda Lake, factors that have facilitated the development of tourism. Historically important castle of Malcesine and the rock engravings on San Vigilio, Mount Baldo for the flora and fauna.
The area includes the municipalities of: Dolcè – Fumane – Grezzana – Marano di Valpolicella – Negrar – Pescantina – S.Ambrogio di Valpolicella – S.Anna d’Alfaedo – San Pietro in Cariano; it forms the westernmost part of the Lessini north of Verona area is world famous for its wines such as Valpolicella and Amarone classic and classic marble as the Prun stone and red Verona stone.
Land of Castles
The area includes the municipalities of: Avio – Brentino Belluno – Dolcè – Rivoli Veronese,the end of the valley, where the river flows into the Po Valley. As the name implies, there are several fortifications from the many castles built by the Austrians in the nineteenth century to defend their borders and still largely complete.
WEST GARDA
Coast of lemons, Park of Alto Garda
The area includes the municipalities of: Gardone Riviera – Gargnano – Limone on Garda – Salò – Tignale – Toscolano Maderno – Tremosine, covering the entire western coast of Garda Lake with a mountainous hinterland. On this front, it seems that the mountains fall into the lake, leaving almost no space nor the street (the historic “West Gardesana”), nor the towns of Garda lake and behind them a series of valleys and peaks. The peculiarity of the territory has allowed the survival of folk traditions, preserve historic sites and the survival of a particular flora and fauna, all enhanced by the Park of “Alto Garda Bresciano”
Vestino Valley
The area includes the municipalities of: Magasa and Valvestino, completely mountainous territory that lies between Idro Lake and Garda lake, crossed by the river Toscolano here, before arriving in Garda, feeds the reservoir Valvestino. The whole area is included in the Park of “Alto Garda Bresciano“.
SOUTH GARDA
Morainic Hills
Beautiful area behind the southern shore of Lake Garda, between the river Mincio and the Chiese, an area of fertile hills and lush, rich in history, the scene of furious battles, which separates the Garda from the north. Area rich in culture and art, influenced by Gonzaga: Casaloldo, Castel Goffredo, Castiglione delle Stiviere, Cavriana, Goito, Guidizzolo, Marmirolo, Medole, Monzambano, Ponti sul Mincio, Pozzolengo, Solferino, Volta Mantovana.
Lombard plain
Area of West Garda lake from Sirmione, Desenzano, Lonato and Calvagese della Riviera penetrates inland to the city of Brescia, meeting countries mainly engaged in industry, farming and agriculture: Bedizzole, Calcinato, Carpenedolo, Castenedolo, Mazzano, Montichiari, Rezzato.
Veneto plain
Includes the territory from the foot of Monte Baldo on the coast meets the countries of Garda, Bardolino, Lazise, arriving at Peschiera and inland it goes from the hills of Affi, Cavaion e Pastrengo, towards the plain of Verona and the river Mincio, meeting countries mainly devoted to viticulture and agriculture: Bussolengo, Castelnuovo del Garda, Sommacampagna, Sona, Valeggio sul Mincio, Villafranca di Verona
