Villa Serego-Alighieri
In places Gargagnago located at the foot of the hill of St. George, Serego – Villa Alighieri. This race has its origin in 1549 when Geneva , a descendant of Peter Dante Alighieri, Mark Antony married Serego . The building retains the cash dowry and a portrait of Geneva and the supposed wedding carriage . By that time, nothing is known about the villa , which stands today as a collection of buildings from different periods and styles superimposed over the centuries . The core , however, there was certainly in the second half of the fourteenth century .
The first drawing of the structure dates back to 1591 , when it was a single massive settlement master , the second in 175 and third on the reconstruction of the building for the work of Giulio Ceroni in 1758 . Unfinished project has made it arrived today this interesting mix of Renaissance and Baroque elements and nuclei harmoniously separated from each other .
The celebrity of the villa, one of the leading literary salons and mundane of Verona, reached its zenith with Anna da Schio and his daughter Maria Theresa.
Among the valuable works of art preserved over the centuries by generations of Serego – Alighieri , there is a print of Gargagnago Marianna Ruga , an oil Lodovico Macanzoni representing the palace, a bell’inchiostro of G.Scopoli , images of nineteenth-century villa , a library and a rich archive that preserves a wealth of drawings and maps of the property Serego .
